Google is an internet and publicity giant who works to be able to offer more services.  One new service that they offer a new service to people in Africa which offers a way to send text messages to their mobile phones.

google-sms-service-300x202The overall issue has been that cell phones in Africa were unable to offer all of the services that they were offering in other locations.  There was on the capacity for voice and SMS texting services.

Even though there are not a lot of people who use the internet in Africa there is an increasing number of people who are using cellular phones.  It has been documented that the mobile phone use is actually six times greater than the internet use in this country.

Google announced that in line with their goals to be able to serve all people they were working to include more services for those that were unable to have the internet.  The company is striving to enter markets in countries that have more poverty and therefore have fewer uses for these services.

Google will roll out these services to users in Uganda.  Plus the service is only available to those who are on MTN, which is Uganda’s phone complex.  If there is success in this area then Google has promised to look into providing services to other countries as well.

There are a number of different services that will be provided with the Google SMS texts.  Basically there will be agricultural tips, news reports, sports scores and local weather.

Another great service that will be provided through this network is Google Trader.  This service will allow people to buy and sell goods and will also allow the military to be able to communicate.

There are so many advantages to these services.  Potentially there will be able to be enough traffic through this type of thing that there could be an increase in business as many people would be able to sell and advertise these types of things.

There is even a search engine that will allow users to be able to search for different things through their phones as if they were using an internet search engine.  These queries will run through a database in order to answer basic questions and criteria.

Basically overall this is a good idea however how it is used will determine things.
