Palm Pre Making its Mark on June 6th
It is time to mark on your calendar that on June 6th you need to hit up your local cellular store and get the latest release, the Palm Pre. Recent announcements have been made from officials at Palm that they will be finally releasing this astounding device on June 6th to many stores including Sprint, Best By, some Wal-Mart locations, and Radio Shack.
Those considering getting the Palm Pre be prepared to pay a bit of a price tag for the Web OS based device. After the mail in rebate you are still looking at paying $200 retail and signing on for a two year service agreement, if you qualify. Not only is the device expensive, but the calling and data plans that coincide with the device aren’t the cheapest either ranging from $70 to $190 a month!
The biggest deal about the actual release date of the Palm Pre is that it is releasing only two days before Apple makes their launch of the iPhone OS 3.0 which is planned to be launched at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco’s Moscone Center West. Fancy that the release is only two days before this event. Coincidence, not really. The developers of Palm Pre are hoping to take the world by storm with the release of this device and in hope diminish the sales that Apple receives on their newest upgrade.
Palm may be attempting to take on one of the leading companies in the technology markets, and they may not be successful, but it is truly admirable to see the amount of effort one company is willing to put into the fight in the technology market. Their plan may or may not go as they expect, but you need to remember that audacity like Palm’s will not always pay off successfully.
Other companies have attempted such things in the past and didn’t do overly well. The Blackberry Storm wasn’t as successful as everyone expected and didn’t take the economy by “storm” when the release finally came. With the software having some complicated bugs and people not likely the touch screen keyboard known as Truepress they have decided to make some tweaks to the device and hopefully have a better re-release.
Although Blackberry didn’t make the success expected Palm may have some luck with the Palm Pre as there have been many great reviews popping up about the device. Not many people have been able to experience the Palm Pre since the Consumer Electronics Show back in January but it did receive some raved reviews then.
It can be hard knowing what is going to happen with Palm’s new WebOS that they’ve decided to debut with the Palm Pre, but the reviews its already received seem a little promising. Now all those people that have been waiting to finally get their hands on a Palm Pre don’t have to wait much longer. Release is on June 6th so you’ll soon be able to walk into your local Sprint store and get your hands on one of them. Finally we can answer all those unanswered questions.
