It comes up as a surprise, but quite recently a study shows that men recently have been falling so much in love with each other with messaging, that a new generation of “Metrotextuals” is now being born. Iam pretty sure, that you can’t help but wonder, what that exactly is. Right?

A recent study by T Mobile shows that almost 22% of men regularly either give or take kisses from their male friends through text messages. This was provided by T-Mobile using an email statement.

This is common in all ages of men, but demographics indicate, that men who fall under the age group of 18-24 do it more often then others, and almost 75% of them end their text messages by typing an x..

This is not common only in the close friends circle, according to the research it is evident that almost quarter of the people will also be willing to send a kiss to other male’s even though if they are not close to.

Text message - MetrotextualsThis research also shows that different people type the word x as as a sign of a kiss in the message differently.

Typing a simple x in the end of the message, contributes to more then 52%  of the people, while using a high case X is done by only 17% .

So now, what does this all mean?

According to various different psychologists, plenty of men have been either shy or unwilling to share out their emotions out in the open, text messages however have allowed them to create a channel through which they can communicate about how they feel.

“The coming on of mobile phones and social media means more communication is done non-verbally and through this it seems men can added easily share their feelings with others – especially their male associates,” Mr Bracey – The chief Psychologist said in the statement.

One self confessed Metrotextual, Nick Kirkham, a 25 year old that factory in insurance said that he and his mates have been transfer kisses to each other for years.

“In fact, apart from my person over you or a work client, there’s no one I wouldn’t send a kiss on manuscript to,” he said.

Personally I feel it’s just a way of showing that there is no hostility, I mean we all know that text messages can be massively misunderstand so putting a simple x at the end kind of says “hey, it’s breezy”.

Perhaps you’ll conflict but I can’t help but think that much ado is life form made about nil.
