Is a Blu-ray disc more than a hdd?

Now half of the year, the Pioneer brand announces their dream, to create the biggest Blu-Ray disc in the world, a 400 GB drive. On Dec. 1, their dream has been fulfilled, Blu-ray disc of 400 GB has made an appearance at the exhibition in Taipei, in the prototype stage. The disc fits any head read optical units on Blu-Ray. Area is composed of 16 layers of  25 GB each, identical with other Blu-Ray discs.

The material is used for the dielectric layer and allowes the creation of tracks 10 and 14 nm. Appearance will be somewhere in 2010, inscriptibile variants will be launched between 2010-2012. It noted that Pioneer has a project in development, creating an optical disk with a capacity of 1 TB . But the prices are very high, an optical drive costs around $ 200 and a BD $15.
